We're two periods through Tuesday night's match-up between the Chicago Blackhawks and Phoenix Coyotes, and the third-ranked offense in the NHL has been held scoreless at home so far as the Coyotes lead 2-0. Chicago is hoping to win for the third time in a row in the team's first game since the conclusion of the "Circus Trip" but they're going to need to make a comeback to accomplish that.
Chicago trailed 1-0 after a first period goal from Daymond Langkow, and Phoenix only expanded that lead with a goal in the middle of the second period by Shane Doan. Assisted by Langkow and Mikkel Boedker, it was Doan's seventh goal of the season. Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford has been challenged by 18 shots on goal so far today, saving 16 of them.
It's bean an impressive performance by Coyotes goalie Mike Smith, who's saved all 15 of the shots that Chicago has gotten on goal so far. He's one period away from his third shutout of the season and the 14th shutout in his career.
