Hawks Fall To Stars In Opener

Stars take season opener from Hawks.

Not a great start for the Blackhawks Friday in Dallas as they dropped their season opener 2-1 to the Stars.

Neither team could light the lamp in the first period, but Dallas would waste little time getting on the board in the second period. Stars defensemen Alex Goligoski got Dallas on the scoreboard just 0:59 seconds into period number 2.  Dallas would increase the lead to 2-0 at the 16:02 mark of the second when forward Jamie Benn got one by Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford.

The Hawks did get on the board with just 14 seconds left in the game when Nick Leddy scored for Chicago.

Stars goalie Kari Lehtonen was very solid in goal making 37 saves. Crawford was ok for the Hawks making 31 saves of his own.

One thing the Hawks did in the offseason was add players to make them a more physical team. Well that wasn't the case on Friday as the Hawks were out hit by Dallas 37 to 19.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday evening in Chicago.
