Chicago Blackhawks, Columbus Blue Jackets Recap: Blackhawks Score 3 Late, Win 5-2

Tied going into the third period, the Chicago Blackhawks (6-2-2) got aggressive and impressive in the final period, winning with a strong 5-2 showing against the Columbus Blue Jackets (1-9-1).

With a total of four separate goals called back for a variety of kicking and interference penalties, the third period quickly became the most aggressive of the game. Fortunately for the Hawks, Viktor Stalberg seemed invisible to the Blue Jackets defenders, making his first two goals of the season and giving the Blackhawks a 4-2 lead only 4:26 into the final period.

Team captain Jonathan Toews took a harsh tumble late in the game, leaving with an apparent injury. Fortunately, the Blackhawks persevered without him, holding strong to their lead while Ray Emery, manning the net for the Blackhawks tonight, compiled 27 saves en route to the Hawks win.

With only second left in the game, Michael Frolik scooted the puck in for an empty net goal, giving Chicago a 5-2 win.
