The Chicago Blackhawks made short work of ending their scoreless streak, putting up two quick goals in the first period of tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Just less than three minutes into the game, center Marcus Kruger deflected the puck into a fistful of empty net, giving the Blackhawks a quick 1-0 lead.
The Blue Jackets, who have won all of one game this year, responded in kind, as Vaclav Prospal slipped the puck past Ray Emery and his swanky new mask four minutes later.
Then, with the game tied 1-1, Dave Bolland -- who already had a pair of tripping penalties called on him -- broke away from the Blue Jackets defenders and awkwardly crashed and slid towards Jackets goalie Allen York, somehow sneaking the puck through for a dramatic 2-1 lead.
