Blackhawks Set Preseason Attendance Record

The popularity of the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks has extended past the summer into the 2010-11 preseason.

The Hawks set a preseason franchise record tonight when 20,553 fans were at the United Center for their game against the Detroit Red Wings. Prior to tonight's game, the highest attendance for a preseason game was on September 19, 2009 when 19,734 fans attended the game against the Washington Capitals.

The Blackhawks have led the NHL in average attendance each of the last two years; last year that average was 21,357 for the 40 home dates, and the Hawks have sold out 102 consecutive regular season home games dating to the end of the 2007-08 regular season.

A limited number of tickets are available for the two remaining home preseason games on Oct. 1 (vs. Pittsburgh) and Oct. 3 (vs. St. Louis). You can check the Blackhawks website for availability.
