The popularity of the Stanley Cup champion Blackhawks has extended past the summer into the 2010-11 preseason.
↵↵The Hawks set a preseason franchise record tonight when 20,553 fans were at the United Center for their game against the Detroit Red Wings. Prior to tonight's game, the highest attendance for a preseason game was on September 19, 2009 when 19,734 fans attended the game against the Washington Capitals.
↵↵The Blackhawks have led the NHL in average attendance each of the last two years; last year that average was 21,357 for the 40 home dates, and the Hawks have sold out 102 consecutive regular season home games dating to the end of the 2007-08 regular season.
↵↵A limited number of tickets are available for the two remaining home preseason games on Oct. 1 (vs. Pittsburgh) and Oct. 3 (vs. St. Louis). You can check the Blackhawks website for availability.
