Blackhawks' Patrick Kane To Be Out Three Weeks With Injury

Blackhawks winger Patrick Kane, who missed only three games during his first three NHL seasons, will now be out for “at least” three weeks, according to coach Joel Quenneville, quoted at Chicago Breaking Sports.

The injury, suffered in the first period of Sunday’s 4-2 win over the Calgary Flames, is to Kane’s left leg. Coach Q said he “hopes” that’s all the time Kane will miss, but also did use the words “upwards of three weeks” to describe the injury. Sounds fairly serious, and worse than the one Marian Hossa has now suffered twice in the first third of this season.

Jeremy Morin, who has been riding the Rockford-Chicago shuttle all season, is expected to be recalled for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Stars at the United Center. Since Hossa and Fernando Pisani are also out, it’s possible there may be more than one recall for tomorrow night; other possible players to come from Rockford include Ryan Potulny, Ben Smith, Brandon Pirri and Evan Brophey.
