Blackhawks Party Hearty In Las Vegas

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Blackhawks partied hearty in Vegas during their four-day break from action (and yes, the word is "hearty", not "hardy" -- "hearty" is defined at dictionary.com as "exuberant; unrestrained", which are very good words to describe hockey players).

The Hawks have an annual rookie party -- similar, in some ways, to baseball teams' rookie hazings -- in which rookies are expected to split the tab for everyone. In what was described as an "epic" party at Lavo (Palazzo) on Sunday night, among the things purchased was a six-liter bottle of champagne that retails for $35,000.

$35,000. Think about it. 12 of those bottles would pay for a minimum-wage major league baseball player's salary for an entire season.

The Review-Journal's article also says that the party was so intense that one Blackhawks player, who was not named, "spent the night in an awesome replica of the "Iron Man" suit of armor"... and that the next day's 11 a.m. practice was cancelled.

Awesome.
