Blackhawks Score Two In Third Period; Troy Brouwer, Duncan Keith Have Goals

The Blackhawks improved to 3-1-1 on the road this season and Marty Turco registered his sixth victory — all of the Blackhawks wins have been with Turco in goal — with 25 saves in a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild in St. Paul on Saturday night.

The game entered the third period tied 1-1 on goals by the Hawks’ Troy Brouwer and the Wild’s Marek Zidlicky. At 3:26 into the third, Duncan Keith scored his first goal of the season, assisted by Brouwer and Patrick Kane. Kane also assisted on Brouwer’s score.

It looked as though that trend would continue through the second period, but Chicago broke through with 31 seconds remaining in the frame on Brouwer’s tally.

When the Wild pulled goalie Niklas Backstrom with the score 2-1 in an attempt to tie the game, the Hawks’ Jake Dowell scored an empty-net goal with 36 seconds remaining to ice the win.

The Blackhawks will wrap up this two-game trip when they face the Rangers in New York on Monday night at 6 p.m. CDT. The game will be televised on CSN Chicago and also the NHL Network. The Hawks will be without center Dave Bolland on Monday; Bolland also missed Saturday night’s game with a minor injury.
