Chicago Bears want to interview Colts' Bruce Arians

The Chicago Bears reportedly put in an interview request to speak with Indianapolis offensive coordinator Bruce Arians.

USA TODAY Sports

As the pool of possible head coaching candidates continues to grow, the Chicago Bears sent an interview request to the Indianapolis Colts to speak with offensive coordinator Bruce Arians according to a report by NFL.com.

In addition to helping No. 1 overall pick Andrew Luck take major strides as a passer, Arians has filled in admirably as the Colts' interm coach this season while Chuck Pagano has been forced to battle leukemia. Although Chicago is the first organization to request an interview with Arians, the 60-year-old coordinator looks to be a top candidate for any of the open head coaching jobs around the league.

Unable to talk with prospective teams until his Colts are eliminated from the postseason, Arians will try to guide his young offense to a playoff victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday afternoon. The report indicates that San Diego may also be expressing serious interest in Arians at the moment, even though it may be a while before he's eligible to begin the interview process.
