Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte didn't practice with the team on Wednesday, and is not expected to play on Sunday when the team takes on the St. Louis Rams. Forte suffered a high ankle sprain in last Thursday's loss to the Green Bay Packers, only a game and change after missing the final four games of last season with a knee injury.
Forte was present at practice on Wednesday but declined to speak with reporters. Head coach Lovie Smith told reporters that Forte is "making progress." If he's unable to play, backup Michael Bush will start in his place. On the season, Bush has run for 96 yards on 26 carries and two touchdowns.
Anticipating Forte's absence, the Bears also re-signed free agent Kahlil Bell for depth at running back.
