The Chicago Bears fans that watched this week's Thursday Night Football game on the NFL Network likely won't want to remember it, but news broke Friday morning that those fans were part of a record-breaking audience.
Thursday Night Football hasn't been around very long, of course, but this week's game against the Green Bay Packers set the record for the best ratings the NFL Network's game of the week has ever received.
NEW RATINGS RECORD: 6.3 overnight for Bears-Packers best ever for @nflnetwork's Thursday Night Football (cont.)— Dan Masonson (@NFLMase) September 14, 2012
Masonson, who works in the NFL's communications department, later tweeted that the previous record-holder was the 2011 Thanksgiving game between the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens. With the extended slate of Thursday night games, however, it would seem this week's record will likely be broken sooner rather than later.
