Bears Training Camp 2012: Brian Urlacher Still Unable To Practice Due To Soreness

The Chicago Bears have insisted that Brian Urlacher's persistently sore knee does not pose a longterm problem, but head coach Lovie Smith admitted on Sunday that the linebacker's inability to practice was becoming "a concern."

‘It's always a concern when you have an injury at the end of the year and you miss some time in the offseason,'' Smith said, referring to the sprained ligaments Urlacher suffered in his left knee in Week 17 last season. ‘‘But he should be OK.''

Urlacher has now missed more practices (four) than he's participated in (three), and his health this offseason has been classified as "not if, but when." That said, all eyes will be on the 34-year-old until he manages to stay on the field.

Chicago's first preseason game is this Thursday, Aug. 9, when they host the Denver Broncos.
