The Chicago Bears signed safety Mark LeGree on Monday in a move to shore up a position beset by injuries after last weekend's preseason win over the Washington Redskins.
LeGree was a fifth-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011 but has yet to see any NFL playing time. He led the nation in interceptions with 22 over his last three collegiate seasons at Appalachian State.
The Bears found themselves thin at the safety position after the Redskins game. Rookie Brandon Hardin was carted off with a kneck injury and Chris Conte left the game with a shoulder injury. The signing of LeGree could free up the Bears to place Hardin on injured reserve, though the team will likely wait until results of an MRI in two weeks.
