The Chicago Bears' Nick Roach moved back to his strong side linebacker position during Saturday's victory against the Washington Redskins, and the move could signal that Brian Urlacher's recovery from a knee injury is going well, according to CSN Chicago.
Urlacher has maintained that he'd be ready by the Sept. 9 regular-season opener. After returning from sprains in his medial collateral ligament and posterior cruciate ligaments in the Bears' 2011 season finale, Urlacher underwent a knee scope earlier this week.
But in Roach's return to his natural position after he'd moved to middle linebacker in Urlacher's absence, Chicago appears to be preparing for the veteran's return to the field. Blake Costanzo was placed at middle linebacker on Saturday.
Roach's comments to CSN Chicago's John Mullin appear to support that stance, as he said that he's only prepping for Urlacher's return.
That's good news for the Bears, who have missed the 13-year veteran's presence for the past few weeks. He hasn't practiced since July 31.
