Former Chicago Bears DT Steve "Mongo" McMichael plans on running for mayor of Romeoville, IL, according to ESPNChicago.com. Mongo already has lengthy careers in both the NFL and professional wrestling under his belt, so why not go into the field of politics?

McMichael, who is currently coaching the Chicago Slaughter of the Indoor Football League in addition to his radio duties for the Bears' pregame show, wants people to know that he's dead serious about the upcoming campaign:

"I want you to realize, and you guys can hear this in my voice, I'm dead serious about this. This is not a joke. I don't take people's futures and their family's futures lightly, baby. "

If people didn't initially take Mongo seriously, they can't really be blamed; during his sting in World Championship Wrestling in the late-90's, Mongo's colleague Hulk Hogan once launched a phony presidential campaign. However, McMichael seems to have the passion to take this as far as he wants. Good for him.

As of now, there is no word on whether or not Romeoville residents will be subject to the Mongo Spike as punishment for committing a crime.
