Chicago Bears Salary Cap Situation Heading Into April

The Chicago Bears fell short of reaching the postseason in 2011 but they are getting ready for the 2012 NFL Draft and the new season that lays beyond. As free agency continues, let's take a look at the current Bears salary cap situation.

Jason La Canfora of NFL.com recently ran down the salary cap situations of each NFL team as of March 30. Here is what the Bears are looking like as free agency continues and the 2012 NFL Draft draws closer.

Chicago Bears
Current contracts: 49
Previous year carryover: $7,749,142.00
Adjustments: $3,463,000.00
Adjusted cap: $131,812,142.00
Team cap: $128,271,307.00
Cap room: $3,540,835.00

There isn't a whole lot of wiggle room with the Bears at present, but they will be hoping for some bounceback performances from contributors who were injured in 2011.
