Johnny Knox Injury: Bears WR Expected To Be Placed On PUP List, According To Report

According to Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Bears WR Johnny Knox is expected to be placed on the team's Physically Unable to Preform list prior to the start of the 2012 season as he recovers from spinal fusion surgery related to a gruesome back injury last season. If Knox is put on the PUP list, he would be ineligible to play in first six weeks of the season, but could return after that.

According to McClure, Knox's recovery from surgery is going slower than anticipated, and it's possible that he could miss the entire 2012 season. McClure also reported that there was more structural damage caused by Knox's injury than initially anticipated. Last season, current Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning missed the season after recovering from spinal fusion surgery, although his took place in his neck as opposed to his back.

Knox was a favorite of QB Jay Cutler's last year, catching 37 passes for 727 yards, the latter of which was tops amongst all Bears receivers.
