2012 NFL Free Agency: Chicago Bears Sign DE Israel Idonije

On Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Bears announced that they had re-signed veteran defensive end Israel Idonije.

The 31-year-old Idonije has spent eight seasons in the NFL, all of them with the Bears. Over the last two seasons, he has started 31 games for Chicago at defensive end. He racked up five sacks in 2011 and had a career-high eight in 2010.

The Bears reportedly were exploring other free agent options at DE, including Mario Williams, but Williams ultimately decided to sign a deal with the Buffalo Bills.
