Shea McClellin injury: Bears DE cleared to play Sunday vs. Vikings

After sitting out last week's game in San Francisco, doctors have cleared Bears defensive end Shea McClellin to play in Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Doctors recently cleared Chicago Bears defensive end Shea McClellin to play against the Minnesota Vikings this Sunday, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun Times. McClellin has sat out for the past week-plus with a concussion, but his condition improved significantly over the past few days.

Chicago's 2012 first-round pick, McClellin suffered the concussion during Chicago's 13-6 loss to the Houston Texans on Nov. 11. He left in the middle of that game and never returned, ultimately sitting out last Sunday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, as well.

The rookie has played well in fairly limited duty so far, recording nine tackles and 2.5 sacks over nine games. One could easily imagine those numbers being a bit more impressive if McClellin didn't have to share time with Julius Peppers, Henry Melton, Corey Wootton and others on one of the league's most dominant defensive lines.

Sunday's game against Minnesota begins at noon CT at Soldier Field.
