Jay Cutler injury: Lovie Smith uncertain of status for Bears quarterback

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith had no update on quarterback Jay Cutler's status following a concussion on Sunday Night Football.

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith spoke with the media on Monday following the team's Sunday Night Football loss to the Houston Texans, but he did not have an update on injured quarterback Jay Cutler. According to Vaughn McClure, via Twitter, Smith would not speculate on Cutler's status for the Week 11 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers.

Cutler suffered a concussion in the game, and most believe it occurred because of a helmet-to-helmet hit from Texans' linebacker Tim Dobbins. Cutler returned to the game and played until the half, at which point he was ruled out for the final two quarters.

In another Tweet from McClure, Smith reiterates that Cutler didn't immediately display concussion symptoms following the hit. It seems his story checks out, as the NFL has already cleared the Bears of any wrongdoing in the handling of Cutler's injury.

While there is no status update on Cutler, he at least has company in his injury, as Alex Smith of the 49ers also missed the second half of his game on Sunday with a concussion. The two teams will meet on Monday Night Football for Week 11.
