The Chicago Bears climbed further up the NFL power rankings after dispatching the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5, 41-3. The Bears defense has been impressive and the various power rankings have all taken note.

In Joel Thorman's power rankings at SB Nation, the Bears come in at fifth:

5. Chicago Bears (LW: 5, 4-1): 41-3. The Bears are that good. Or the Jaguars are that bad. Maybe a little of both.

Jacksonville may not be the biggest test for the Bears, but the numbers they have been putting up on defense are still impressing all the analysts. At ESPN, the Bears are ranked sixth (up three spots from last week) and Dan Graziano notes that Chicago's defense has scored five touchdowns over their last three games. Elliott Harrison at NFL.com ranks the Bears fifth (up one spot) and Pete Prisco at CBS Sports has Chicago at sixth (three higher than last week); both note the power of the Bears defense. Overall that gives the Bears an average ranking of 5.5 heading into their bye week, their next game is at home against Detroit on Oct. 22.
