Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler spoke highly of wide receiver Devin Hester after an impressive 39-yard catch in the Bears' 41-3 romp over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (via ESPN Chicago):
"His legs are as fresh as anybody's," Cutler said Monday on "The Jay Cutler Show" on ESPN 1000. "He's not going anywhere. He hasn't lost any juice. That go route I threw him yesterday, there's only one dude in the NFL who can track that down and that's Devin Hester."
Just a few weeks ago, Hester expressed frustration with his role in the Bears' offense. In the first three games of the season, the speedy wideout registered just two catches for 27 yards. Both of those catches came in Week 1, meaning he posted goose eggs in Weeks 2 and 3.
But in the past few weeks, Hester has made several impact plays, including a 34-yard touchdown reception against the Dallas Cowboys to go along with his long grab against Jacksonville. While Hester's overall numbers still were not gaudy in these last two games, it's a positive for the Bears that they are starting to get him involved. This is especially the case with the injuries to fellow wide receivers Earl Bennett and Alshon Jeffery.
The Bears now have a bye week before hosting the Detroit Lions on Oct. 22.
