Chicago Bears cornerback Tim Jennings has been named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month. Via Adam L. Jahns of the Chicago Sun Times:
[Jennings] was named the NFC defensive player of the month on Thursday after recording a league-best four interceptions, one tackle for a loss, 18 tackles and six pass break ups, including two that led to interceptions for teammates.
Jennings is part of a Chicago defensive unit that has forced a league-high 14 turnovers this season, besting the Atlanta Falcons total of 12 takeaways. The Bears are third-best in the league against the run, allowing just 67.3 yards per game, while being 18th against the pass, allowing 249.5 yards per game through the air.
Jennings' fellow defensive backfield mate Major Wright has chipped in three interceptions in the season's first month, with Lance Briggs, Chris Conte, D.J. Moore, and Charles Tillman all added one pick a piece through four games. As a result, the Bears lead the NFL in team interceptions, with 11. The Rams are second-best, with eight picks this year.
The Bears visit the 1-3 Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday at EverBank Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:05pm ET, with the game televised on FOX.
