Former Bears lineman Chris Williams signed with the St. Louis Rams on Tuesday. Williams will join his new team in London, where the Rams face the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
Williams was cut last Tuesday from the Chicago roster, after he lost his starting job to J'Marcus Webb in training camp. Williams certainly qualifies as the latest in a long list of Jerry Angelo first-round busts - 2011 pick Gabe Carimi is the only Angelo first-rounder still on the Bears roster - though Angelo's draft class of 2008 included Matt Forte and Earl Bennett and has made 181 combined starts.
Williams had also visited Philadelphia, Arizona and San Diego. He replaces offensive lineman Quinn Ojinnaka, who the Rams released Monday morning. Rams linemen Rodger Saffold, Wayne Hunter and Scott Wells have all sustained injuries during the 2012 season, leaving holes in the St. Louis line in front of Sam Bradford and Steven Jackson.
