The Chicago Bears faltered slightly out of the gate, losing to the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, but they're now 5-1 with some impressive showings on offense. They struggled here and there against the Detroit Lions on Monday Night Football, but they came out with the win and look great at the moment. They're rising up the weekly power rankings fast.
Many of the rankings have them in the top five. Ryan Van Bibber of SB Nation has the Bears at No. 4, up from the No. 5 spot last week:
4. Chicago Bears (LW: 5, 5-1): An ugly Thursday night loss to the Packers in Week 2 had people dismissing the Bears. Whoops.
ESPN puts the Bears at No. 5, right at the tip of the top five. They cite an impressive defense for the strong play thus far, and only have the Falcons, Giants, Texans and 49ers above them. Brian Billick of FOX Sports has the Bears up even higher, in the No. 3 spot, up one place from a week ago, with only Houston and Atlanta in front of them. Lastly, CBS Sports has the Bears even higher, as the No. 2 team in the league, behind Atlanta.
