Bears' Charles Tillman named NFC Defensive Player of Week

Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 5 of the NFL season.

Chicago Bears cornerback Charles Tillman was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his Week 5 performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Tillman made four tackles and returned an interceptions 36 yards for a touchdown in the Bears' 41-3 dismantling of the Jaguars. It was the second straight week Tillman returned an interception for a touchdown. Tillman's teammate Lance Briggs also returned an interception for a touchdown in both of the Bears' last two games.

Tillman, in his 10th season, holds the Bears' record for most defensive touchdowns with eight. He has 32 career interceptions, which places him tied for third on the Bears' all-time list behind Gary Fencik (38) and Richie Petitbon (37). Tillman has also forced 28 fumbles, trailing only Richard Dent (34) for most in Chicago history.

The Bears have five defensive touchdowns on the season and have forced 17 turnovers in five games. Chicago has a bye this week before taking on the Detroit Lions in Week 7.
