2012 NFL Mock Draft: Chicago Bears Could Still Focus On Center

If there was a defining image of the Jay Cutler era in Chicago, it would almost certainly be Cutler retreating from an oncoming onslaught of pass rushers only to somehow fling a pass downfield for a miraculous completion. The Bears need help at various positions, but often times teams drafting in the middle of the first round choose a safe pick that can come in and contribute immediately.

Along those lines, SB Nation's Ryan Van Bibber has the Bears selecting Wisconsin Badgers C Peter Konz in his updated Mock Draft:

19. Chicago Bears, Peter Konz, C, Wisconsin

Another need so obvious it hardly needs an explanation. Cutler was abused from all points behind the Bears' line this season. It's a miracle that a hand injury was all he suffered. Konz is the best center in the draft, and has the brains to do handle the cerebral part of the center's job.
