Chicago Bears Offseason Moves: Bears Fire Interim GM Tim Ruskell

Chicago Bears GM Phil Emery has made his first off-season move, firing interim GM Tim Ruskell, who had been appointed to that position after the Bears fired Jerry Angelo. Ruskell had been with Chicago since the beginning of 2010, and was one of the finalists for the position that eventually went to Emery.

Ruskell and Emery have a history together that dates back to the mid-decade, when Ruskell hired Emery as the director of college scouting when the former was the assistant general manager of the Atlanta Falcons. That wasn't enough to convince Emery to retain Ruskell, though it's not unexpected that a new GM would more or less clean house. According to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times, Emery is expected to have a separate scouting director for the pro and college games.
