Bears GM Search: Jason Licht Returns For Second GM Interview On Thursday

The Chicago Bears have yet to hire a replacement general manager after firing Jerry Angelo in early January, but the list has been narrowed to two candidates: New England Patriots director of pro personnel Jason Licht and Kansas City Chiefs director of college scouting Phil Emery. While Emery had prior experience with the organization -- he served as an area scout for the Bears from 1998 through 2004 -- it is Licht who is first to receive a second interview. The Chicago Bears have confirmed that Licht returned to Halas Hall on Thursday for a second interview regarding the organization's vacancy at general manager.

Licht started his career in the NFL as a college scout with the New England Patriots in 1999 and ascended to a national scouting position by 2001. After a Super Bowl victory in 2002, Licht received a promotion to assistant director of player personnel. He then spent five seasons with the Eagles as an assistant director of player personnel and vice president of player personnel before joining the Arizona Cardinals for their Super Bowl season in 2008, and then returned to the Patriots' personnel department where he has worked for the last three seasons.
