Bears GM Search: Candidates Down To Phil Emery, Jason Lict

The Chicago Bears have narrowed their field of prospective general managers to just two candidates. According to the Sun-Times, the New England Patriots' Jason Licht and the apparent favorite from the Kansas City Chiefs, Phil Emery, are the only remaining of the original five candidates:

Candidates

Jason Licht (Patriots)
Phil Emery (Chiefs)

Out

Marc Ross (Giants)
Tim Ruskell (Bears)
Jimmy Raye (Chargers)

The Bears fired general manager Jerry Angelo earlier in January after the team finished the 2011 season 8-8. Angelo had served as the Bears' GM since 2001.

Of the two remaining candidates, only Emery has prior experience with the Bears, serving as an area scout for the Bears from 1998 through 2004. Licht, meanwhile, is currently the director of pro personnel and has split his NFL time with the Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals.
