The Chicago Bears had a tough time getting interviews for their offensive coordinator position last offseason, and the Minnesota Vikings denied the Bears permission to speak with quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers back in 2010 even though the hired would have been a promotion for Rogers. Now the Chicago Bears have returned the favor to the Vikings by denying their request to interview Bears defensive backs coach Brady Hoke for their defensive coordinator vacancy, per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
Hoke is under contract with the Bears through next season after signing a two-year deal with the team this past off-season, so now the Vikings will have to turn elsewhere to fill their spot. The team did allow Hoke to interview for the defensive coordinator position with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, but that was when Hoke did not have a contract with the Bears.
Meanwhile, the Bears are busy interviewing their own candidates for the vacant GM and passing coordinator positions, so there is still much to do.
