Mike Martz parted ways with the Chicago Bears after the season ended, and on Monday the coach announced that he is retiring from coaching altogether. Martz said simply, "It's time."
Martz got his start in the NFL with the Rams in 1992, and his legacy most likely will be defined by the period of great overall and offensive success that the franchise had at the turn of the century. Martz was the offensive coordinator for the Rams team that won the Super Bowl and later ted them to another title game appearance as the head coach.
After leaving St. Louis, Martz served as the offensive coordinator for Detroit, San Francisco and finally, Chicago.
