For as great as the Bears (1-1) played last week against the Atlanta Falcons, the same couldn’t be said this week. After taking a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, the Bears would only be able to add two Robbie Gould field goals the rest of the day as New Orleans (1-1) would go on for a 30-13 victory.
The Bears just couldn’t do much of anything on either side of the ball Sunday. Matt Forte had a nice game with 49 yards rushing on 10 carries and also had 117 yards on 10 receptions, but that would be it for the offense. Jay Cutler was sacked six more times Sunday so protection is still an issue.
The defense which looked so great a week ago was torched for 30 points and gave up 382 yards of offense to Drew Brees and the Saints.
This loss is frustrating in so many ways. Play calling was questionable again and seeing how bad the Saints looked in week one on defense made scoring just 13 points look ridicoulous.
To make things worse in this loss were injuries to Gabe Carimi, Major Wright, and Earl Bennett. All pretty important players. It is unknown at this time how serious any of these injuries are.
Things won’t get any easier as the Bears will play host to the Green Bay Packers next week.
