Gabe Carimi Injury Update: Bears Top Pick Prepares For 2nd Surgery

The Chicago Bears may be without their young right tackle for the beginning of the 2012 NFL Training Camp. According the ESPN Chicago's Michael C. Wright, RT Gabe Carimi expects to undergo a second surgery on his ailing knee.

Placed on the IR in November, Carimi had appeared to be the Bears' top lineman through the first two games of the 2011 season, but a knee injury in Week 2 prematurely ended his rookie campaign. The Bears drafted Carimi out of Wisconsin with the 29th overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.

If Carimi's second surgery and subsequent rehab goes according to plan, the Bears should have their young lineman back to participate in some of the offseason program, but the extent of that participation is yet known.
