Johnny Knox Injury Update: Coach Lovie Smith Says Hit Was Clean

The Chicago Bears lost one of their top offensive weapons on Sunday when WR Johnny Knox went down with a horrific injury in the first quarter. Knox has since undergone surgery for his broken vertebrae, and according to head coach Lovie Smith, Knox's season is over.

Coach Smith spoke with the media on Monday, saying the surgery Knox received on Sunday was not yet complete. Asked if Knox felt the hit on Knox was illegal or dirty, he said the hit was not suspect:

The Bears' roster, following the loss of Knox and the sudden arrest of WR Sam Hurd, has only four healthy wide receivers: Devin Hester, Earl BennettRoy Williams and Dane Sanzenbacher, with WR Max Komar on the practice squad.
