Marion Barber Fantasy Projection: Barber Projected For Middling Performance

With Matt Forte on the bench after spraining his knee in last week's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the burden of carrying the Bears' running game falls on the shoulders of ex-Dallas Cowboys RB Marion Barber. Barber hasn't had much impact this season, running only 76 times for 281 yards (3.7 yards per carry) and five touchdowns, with a high game total of 63 yards, which came in Chicago's loss to the Oakland Raiders. With Forte out, the question becomes this: Can Marion Barber be an effective in fantasy football given the amount of carries he should receive?

The answer, according to numberFirecom, is "no." numberFire has Barber projected as the No 28 overall running back for Week 14, which means that fantasy owners should look elsewhere for production from the running back position. Despite that the Denver Broncos rushing defense is decidedly middle of the road (121.3 yards per game), Barber hasn't shown much this year that would lead you to believe that he has a big game in store. Even the chance that he might pick up a short yardage touchdown is diminished by the presence of Caleb Hanie.
