Chicago Bears' Earl Bennett Fined $5,000 By NFL For Neon Orange Cleats

There's an old saying that goes something like "look good, feel good, play good." Bears WR Earl Bennett, in his first game back since Week 2, took that to heart on Monday night. Not only did he lead the Bears in receiving, catching five balls for 95 yards and a touchdown, but he also sported eye-popping neon orange cleats. And while his teammates certainly appreciated his on-field contributions, and maybe even got a nice laugh out of his shoes, Bennett's fashion statement was not looked at too positively by the league. According to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs, the NFL on Monday fined Bennett $5,000 for violating the league's uniform policy.

Though athletes are known to be a superstitious bunch, don't expect to see Bennett flying around Soldier Field in those same cleats when the Bears take on the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon. Another violation of the policy would result in a $10,000 fine, and Bennett, according to Briggs, said, "I don't think my wife would like that."
