On Monday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said that newly-acquired quarterback Kyle Orton would be given a chance to win the starting job this week. Tyler Palko started the team's previous game and committed four turnovers ina 13-9 defeat that has Haley exploring his options.
"Tyler's the starter," Haley said, "but as we do every week and with every position, if we feel Kyle or Ricky (Stanzi) gives us a chance to win, we'll make that determination."
The Chiefs have been searching for an adequate replacement for injured quarterback Matt Cassel. Orton previously spent four seasons with the Bears before moving to Denver in Chicago's deal for Jay Cutler, and Chicago had expressed interest in claiming Orton off waivers after Cutler injured the thumb on his throwing hand on Nov. 20.
