Kyle Orton Update: Chicago Bears To Make Waiver Claim, According To Report

According to Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago, the Chicago Bears intend to put in a waiver claim on former Denver Broncos quarterback Kyle Orton. After Jay Cutler injured his in thumb in last week's game for the Bears, Orton's agent made the push for his client's releaseAccording to NBC's Pro Football Talk, via ESPN's John Clayton, Orton is also reportedly doing his best to make sure the Chiefs don't try to claim him before the NFL's 4 p.m. EST deadline. He has been spreading the news that he may not report to Kansas City if claimed, so he is clearly looking for a reunion with the Chicago Bears.

Denver TV and Radio sportscaster Vic Lombardi has a bit of speculation as to why Orton would want to play for the Bears, which he posted on Twitter:

 Vic Lombardi
Kyle Orton desperately wants to play for the Bears. He wants to play against the Broncos on Dec 11th.

And then this little nugget came from Brad Biggs of the National Football Post and the Chicago Tribune, via Twitter:

 Brad Biggs
Looking for a Kyle Orton/Mike Martz connection? Broncos QB coach Adam Gase worked for Martz in San Fran & Detroit.

With the NFL's 4 p.m. EST deadline for waiver claims on Orton quickly approaching, there should be a resolution in the very near future.
