Chicago Bears Interested In Claiming Kyle Orton, According To Reports

The Denver Broncos waived backup quarterback Kyle Orton on Tuesday, and the Chicago Bears are in the market for a quarterback after Jay Cutler was sidelined with a fractured thumb on his throwing hand. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer said that he has heard either the Bears or Kansas City Chiefs will claim Orton off waivers. The Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure confirmed Glazer's initial report:

Can confirm Jay Glazer's report that the Bears will attempt to claim Kyle Orton, league source tells me.
However, according to the Tribune's Brad Biggs, the Bears are well down the waiver priority list, and that may make it tough for the franchise to acquire Orton by those means. Biggs added that, failing an acquisition through waivers, the Bears could negotiate a contract with Orton if he goes unclaimed and clears waivers.
