Jay Cutler Injury: Cutler Out 6-8 Weeks, According To Report

The Chicago Tribune's Vaughn McClure is reporting that Bears quarterback Jay Cutler will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a broken thumb suffered during the team's win over San Diego on Sunday:

Two sources confirm that Cutler will be sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks, but the Bears have no plans to place him on injured reserve.

McClure adds that there is some possibility that Cutler could return in the playoffs.

According the the Trib's Brad Biggs, Cutler hurt the thumb while trying to prevent Chargers defensive back Antoine Cason from returning an interception for a touchdown. Video of the play in question is available on the NFL's website; toward the end of the play, Cutler gets blocked to the ground while in pursuit of Cason.
