After a low-scoring opening quarter, it seemed this matchup between the Chicago Bears and the San Diego Chargers was destined to be a defensive battle. However, both teams found a bit of offensive rhythm in the second quarter, with the Bears leading 17-10 heading into the half.
Chicago utilized two impressive drives to find the endzone in the second quarter. The first drive was capped off by a strong TD run from Marion Barber, who scored from one yard out. The Chargers answered with their own TD drive, as Philip Rivers hooked up with Antonio Gates for a TD.
The Bears offense responded in impressive fashion to the Chargers TD, as Jay Cutler led the Bears down the field for another score in the final minutes of the half. After it appeared that Earl Bennett had found the end zone, the initial call of TD was overturned. However, Chicago still managed to take the momentum heading into the half, as Cutler hooked up with Kellen Davis for a TD pass.
