Fantasy Football Sit/Start Week 9: RB's McCoy, Forte Should Shine Monday Night

Most Valuable Player is a topic debated ad nauseum across every American professional sports league, but in the NFL, it’s nearly impossible to win unless you’re a quarterback. But while the real teams can control the rest of the Web, this tiny storystream is concerned only with the fake ones we fret over with nearly as much compassion. If you’re looking for a fantasy football MVP in 2011, Monday night’s showdown between the Bears and the Eagles will showcase two outstanding candidates: running backs Matt Forte and LeSean McCoy.

McCoy turned in one of the best performances of Week 8 last Sunday night by gashing the Cowboys’ D for one big gain after another. He ended with 185 yards rushing and two touchdowns, the perfect nightcap for any fantasy owner fortunate enough to own the Pitt product this season.

Matt Forte has been every bit as good in Chicago. The all-purpose dynamo is Jay Cutler’s only real weapon, and the Bears aren’t about to forget it: Forte leads the team in rushing and receiving, though only has three touchdowns to show for it.

If Forte could only find the end zone more often, he’d be as valuable to fantasy owners as he is to Chicago’s offense. As it stands, both runners are a "no duh" start every week, and this one isn’t any different.

Looking for more options? Eagles receiver Jason Avant could be worth a start. Though Mike Vick’s third option has yet to find the end zone, he’s caught 31 passes for over 400 yards this season.
