Chicago Bears Injury Update: Bears Place Rookie OL Gabe Carimi On IR

According the official website of the Chicago Bears, the Bears have placed rookie right tackle Gabe Carimi on the injured reserve list, meaning his 2011 rookie season is over.

Carimi had arthroscopic surgery on his knee last Friday and has not played for nine weeks. Carimi, who offensive line coach Mike Tice said was the Bears' "best lineman," was a first round draft pick in the 2011 NFL Draft and had started at right tackle on opening weekend.

The Bears have already placed one offensive lineman on the IR this week when starting right guard Chris William when down with a wrist injury. Lance Louis has filled in admirably at right tackle during Carimi's absence, and without Chris Williams, the Bears appear likely to turn to second-year lineman Edwin Williams.
