Kris Dielman Injury Update: Chargers Place Pro Bowl OT On Injured Reserve

The San Diego Chargers announced on Wednesday that they have placed star offensive tackle Kris Dielman on the injured reserve, officially ending his season. The move comes days before the Chargers face the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday night.

Dielman, 30, suffered a concussion while playing the New York Jets on Oct. 23 and is still weeks away from being ready to take the field. The lineman finished the game in which he received the concussion, but suffered a grand mal seizure near the end of the team's charter flight home.

The Chargers claimed that they couldn't see any clear symptoms of a concussion from Dielman during the game, which explains why they didn't pull him. NFL rules regarding how to deal with concussions have become increasingly strict in recent years given research indicating adverse long-term effects of head injuries.
