Mike Adamle Arrested For DUI

Add Mike Adamle, former Bears and Northewestern Wildcats football player and sports anchor for NBC5 Chicago to the list of former players and sports writers and broadcastes getting arressted for various infractions. Adamle was arrested about 1am in Evanston and charged with driving under the influence (DUI).

A 1971 graduate of Northwestern University, Adamle earned All American honors while in college and was named Big Ten Most Valuable Player his senior year. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted him in the fourth round of the '71 draft. Adamle went on to play for the New York Jets and Chicago Bears before retiring in 1977. After retiring from football, Adamle worked as a sports reporter and anchor at varous stations before landing a job as weekday sports anchor at NBC5 in Chicago.

Adamle, an epileptic, lives in Evanston. He is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 14 in Skokie on the DUI charge. Neither Adamle nor NBC5 were available for comment.
