Former Bear Bernard Berrian Fined For Yellow Shoes

↵↵

Proving again that it is the "No Fun League", the NFL has fined former Bear Bernard Berrian, now with the Vikings, $5,000 for wearing yellow shoes last Sunday:

Per NFL rules, Vikings players must wear black- or purple-colored cleats during games. Berrian said he will not wear his yellow cleats again during games.↵

↵Berrian had a productive game in those cleats with nine catches for 89 yards.

Seriously, how does doing that hurt anyone? It's a team color; it's not as if he were wearing the red of the Minnesota opponent last week (the Cardinals). I get the point of a "uniform" -- the word itself means "the same" -- but if Vikings players can already wear two different color shoes, one of which (black) is not a team color, why not yellow (with a purple Nike swoosh, no less)? You'd think the NFL would have better things to worry about, like keeping its players safe.

Since Berrian had a good game last Sunday wearing the yellow shoes, maybe not wearing them against the Bears this week will ramp his production down. Or something.
