BMW Championship 2012 Purse: Rory McIlroy Wins $1.44 Million

Rory McIlroy received $1.44 million for winning the 2012 BMW Championship bringing his season long winnings total to $7.82 million. The total purse for the tournament was $8 million.

Second place finishers Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood receive $708,000 apiece. Tiger Woods and Robert Garrigus won $352,000 for finishing in a fourth place tie. Vijay Singh, who led the tournament after three rounds, finished in eighth place, winning $248,000.

McIlroy ranks No. 1 on the PGA Tour money list, almost $2 million more than the next closest golfer, Tiger Woods. Woods has made a projected $5.88 million this season. Jason Dufner is in third with $4.71 million.

Hunter Mahan, who finished in last place amongst those golfers that made the cut, will leave the tournament with $16,000.
