Rory McIlroy is the new No. 1 in the FedEx Cup standings after his win at the Deutsche Bank Championship on Monday, passing Nick Watney, who finished tied for 20th. Tiger Woods finished third and remains in third place in the FedEx Cup standings as well. Louis Oosthuizen was the big gainer from the weekend, as his second-place finish moved him up from 21st to fifth in the standings.
Illionis grad Steve Stricker stays put at 16th place following his 13th-place finish and Northwestern grad Luke Donald falls from 14th to 17th after finishing tied for 26th at the Deutsche Bank. Illinois native D.A. Points improved in the standings from 72nd to 54th after finishing in a tie for 20th. Seventy golfers remain alive in the playoffs, which will move on to the BMW Championship in Indiana on Sept. 6.
