Bears Roster Update: Brian Price To Be Released By Chicago

The Chicago Bears plan to release defensive tackle Brian Price after bringing back veteran defensive lineman Amobi Okoye, who was recently cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Okoye claims that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers tried to trade him to the Bears for draft picks, but ultimately released him, allowing him to be signed by Chicago, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. The Bears however previously traded a seventh round draft pick to Tampa Bay in exchange for Price, so the Buccaneers did, in effect, acquire a draft pick from the Bears' final defensive tackle spot.

Brian Price will leave Chicago without ever having suited up for a regular season game. Price, who starred at UCLA, was the third pick of the second round in the 2010 draft, but only amassed 23 tackles and three sacks in 20 games. He now finds himself looking for his third team in the span of three months.

Okoye signed with the Buccaneers in the offseason but battled injuries throughout camp and was unable to impress new head coach Greg Schiano. In 2011 with Chicago, Okoye picked up four sacks and 27 tackles in 16 games.
